Phuong (Kem) Nguyen-Le

Kem is a PhD Student in the INFO College, working in Human-Computer Interaction and Natural Language Processing. She is passionate about AI alignment for education, mixed-methods approaches in combining machine learning with qualitative grounded theory data exploration, and prototyping new interaction paradigms for teachers to evaluate education NLP models. Kem also works with Cornell Tech’s Break Through Tech AI Initiative and helped establish UMD as an Instructional Hub for Machine Learning education for this program. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Econometrics from Providence College.
