Youngsun is a Ph.D. candidate in Education Policy at the University of Maryland. Her research agenda encompasses school discipline, absenteeism, and the experiences of Asian American youth. For her dissertation, she examines racial/ethnic disparities in school discipline and the causes and consequences of punitive and exclusionary approaches to absenteeism in U.S. public schools. She primarily uses causal inference and quantitative descriptive analysis using administrative data and Stata.
